New Year’s Eve is right around the corner, and whether you’re looking for a fancy dress gathering, a party or a quiet get together, West Dorset is putting on a show to kick start 2024.

Below are some of the New Year's Eve events taking place around West Dorset this year.

Bridport:

  • The coastal town of Bridport has a long tradition of celebrating the new year in fancy dress at Bucky Doo Square. Previous celebrations have seen people dressed as pirates, superheroes, panto characters and more. Crowds in their thousands are set to gather in the Square as is tradition at midnight to hear the clock ring 12 times.
  • Local ska band the Skalatans will be performing at the Bull Hotel on East Street to see in 2024. The event is set to start at the hotel from 8.30pm and go through until 1am.
  • The Ropemakers pub on West Street in Bridport is also hosting a New Year’s bash, featuring music from DJ Santa from 9pm to party the night away.
  • Bridport Football Club will also be putting on a bash at the their clubhouse, the Beehive on Skilling Hill Road, for the new year. Tickets cost £10 with money raised going towards Bridport Youth under 8’s football team, who in their first season, need waterproof jackets. Doors open at 7pm and the event runs up to midnight. Children are welcome at the party for free and the price of the adult ticket will include music from a DJ and buffet food. Booking in advance is essential. Lyme Regis:

  • Lyme Regis Town Council have organised the town’s New Year’s Eve Party at the Marine Theatre. WeFunk, a nine-piece band, will be playing pop, soul, Motown and funk before a DJ set from DJ Blutaq will offer floor fillers from the 1960s to the present day. The event starts at 7.30pm, with tickets priced at £15. You can purchase tickets online at marinetheatre.com, in person from the Lyme Regis Bookshop, or over the phone on 01308 424901.
  • The Swim café bar on Marine Parade in Lyme Regis are hosting a new year’s party. Guests will get into those new year vibes with sights of the sea. Entry costs £10 with doors opening at 10pm until late.
  • The Royal Standard on Marine Parade will offer a different selection of music with their DJ, Tom Maloney. Music on New Year’s Eve is set to include 1980s and 1990s hits as well as club classics, house and garage classics as well as drum and bass. Entry is free with doors opening at 8pm until late.  

Bridport and Lyme Regis News:

Chideock:

  • Chideock Village Hall is hosting a New Year’s Eve party from 7pm. The event is set to run through to just after midnight at 12.15am. Tickets for the event are £5, and guests are encouraged to bring a plate of party food to add to their buffet. A disco will be on offer to dance your way into the new year, whilst wine, beer, lager and cider as well as an array of soft drinks. Champagne will be available by the bottle or glass.
