A main Bridport route will be closed for ten nights for roadworks.

The B3162 North Allington will be closed overnight between its junction with Hospital Lane and the roundabout at West Street/West Allington junction - a distance of about 660 metres.

The work, which will take place between 8pm and 6am, will begin on Thursday, November 30 and is expected to finish by Saturday, December 9. A diversion route will be signed.

The road will re-open to traffic daily and at weekends.

The closure is so that Dorset Council can carry out 'essential' highway maintenance works.

A clearway and parking restrictions will also be imposed along this stretch.

Notices have been put up and letters sent out to residents and businesses.

Site Agent for Dorset Highways Jason Loibl says in the letter: "We will be carrying out targeted and localised repairs to (parts of the road).

"During the closure periods there will be no on street parking available, and temporary parking restrictions will be implemented to prevent waiting or parking. Please note that any vehicle waiting in contravention of temporary parking restrictions may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. If a vehicle has been removed, the owner must contact the council’s vehicle recovery contractor."
