The winners of Best Album at the 2023 Wales Folk Awards will perform in west Dorset this December.
Welsh Chamberfolk Trio VRï are set to make two appearances, with one taking place at the Litton Cheney Community Hall on Friday, December 15 at 7.30pm.
Described by Folk Radio UK as ‘a formidable artistic and cultural statement,’ all three of the trio sing, with Jordan Price Williams playing cello, Aneirin Jones playing violin and Patrick Rimes playing both viola and violin.
Vrï’’s other performance will take place at Corfe Castle Village Hall a day later, also at 7.30pm.
The events are organised by Dorset’s touring arts charity Artsreach.
Since forming in 2016, the trio have been pumping out their foot-stomping dance tunes whilst maintaining the poise and elegance of a string ensemble.
A spokesperson for the event said that VRi combine tradition and music into a joyous celebration of Welsh identity and a ‘contemporary rediscovery of lost traditions.’
The trio's 2019 debut album Ty Ein Tadau meaning House of Our Fathers in Welsh received a five star review in Songlines magazine and numerous awards nominations. VRï’s second album Islais a genir, translating to A Sung Whisper, saw them crowned Winners of Best Album at Wales Folk Awards 2023.
Tickets can be purchased on the door from £12 with family tickets ranging up to £30 including refreshments.
Tickets and further information are available online at www.artsreach.co.uk
