A west Dorset primary school is the latest to join a multi-academy trust.

Charmouth Primary School will become part of the First Federation Trust, a network of 20 schools in total, and is the second Dorset school to do so.

The school says the move will bring ‘exciting access to the expertise that exists across the trust’, and will help it 'build upon, and further advance, teaching and learning.'

Headteacher Laura Cornish said: “Being a part of the First Federation Trust family will bring many benefits to our school, from mentorship, guidance and the latest best practice, to staff training and development in subject knowledge and teaching practice.

"This collaboration isn’t just about affiliating with a larger educational trust; it’s a reflection of our shared values, aspirations, and unwavering commitment to the success of our pupils.”

"The school aims to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive academically and personally. Similarly, the First Federation Trust consistently demonstrates a dedication to these principles. The trust has a track record of empowering children to achieve their full potential and is committed to innovative teaching practice."

Trust lead and chief executive officer of First Federation Trust, Paul Walker, added: “We are delighted to welcome Charmouth Primary School to our family of primary schools. We are excited to collaborate closely with the local community in Dorset and contribute to the growth and development of the school.

"As our trust grows and we collaborate across more schools, so our knowledge and expertise grows. This partnership represents a collective commitment to fostering excellence in education and providing the best possible outcomes for pupils.

“Charmouth is a vibrant school in an enviable location. We are looking forward to a bright future of learning and growth together.”

Mrs Cornish added: “Like us, the trust is passionate about learning and delivering a curriculum that broadens all children’s horizons and prepares them for their future. We recognise the incredible benefits that this partnership will bring to our school community.

"It opens up opportunities for our teachers and support staff to collaborate with their peers and continually refine our teaching methods. The whole school team is looking forward to tapping into the expertise of the trust.”
