A man has been fined hundreds of pounds for speeding almost 40mph over the limit on a key route just outside Bridport.
Matthew Dominic Brown, 52, was driving a Volkswagen car on the A35 at Miles Cross faster than the 50mph speed limit on July 8 last year, a court heard.
Court papers from the hearing at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 15, said Brown was recorded as travelling at 89mph.
He pleaded guilty to exceeding the 50 mph speed limit in contravention of a local traffic order.
The defendant, from Eastwood Court, Bournemouth, was fined £720 and ordered to pay a £288 surcharge and £110 in court costs. This is a total of £1,118.
The driver also had six points added to his licence.
