A WEST Dorset museum is giving people the chance to create their own 'personal and meaningful' scrapbooks.

Lyme Regis Museum is collaborating with artist Christine Allison to offer a series of sessions, called Connections, starting in September.

The sessions will offer participants the opportunity to create their own 'personal and meaningful book' inspired by themes presented by Christine and connections made to items in the museum.

Held on Thursdays from 2pm-4pm throughout the winter and spring, the sessions will be suitable for all adults but especially those who may be elderly, isolated or lonely or facing life issues and would benefit from social interaction and new interests.

Participants are not required to be art experts and full practical support will be given.

Attendees will be introduced to a range of skills including drawing, watercolour painting, pen work and collage with the aim of creating a journal of work to keep.

Themes will make connections between objects in the museum, personal experiences and memories through sharing words and images.

Christine said: “These sessions will be safe, relaxed, joyous, creative and stimulating and the books that will be created will be something to treasure and be proud of."

The price is £30 for a course of six sessions. For more information, call the museum on 01297 443370 or email museum@lymeregismuseum.co.uk.
