Flaming torches were carried through a seaside town as part of a popular and much-loved tradition.
Crowds turned out for the annual torchlight procession in Lyme Regis last night.
The weather looked a little dicey earlier in the day, with Storm Antoni bringing strong winds and rain to Dorset.
The Met Office issued the county with a weather warning, and this was later upgraded with a ‘risk to life’ message.
Thankfully, the evening brightened up and the procession was able to go ahead.
Torchbearers gathered at Langmoor Gardens before meandering down to the seafront to form a ring of fire.
The event was described as a “wonderful spectacle” by organisers.
“It’s a wonderful experience for those taking part and a truly breathtaking spectacle for those watching,” they said.
Torchlight is part of carnival week, which kicked off on Friday with a spectacular firework display.
Events continue this week before the big day, the Grand Carnival Procession, on Saturday (August 12).
