Festival organisers say they've done 'all they can' to make Jurassic Fields happen tonight but the weather has been 'completely against them.'

The three-day festival in Bridport was due to start early this afternoon but the site remains closed as Dorset continues to experience strong winds and heavy rain.

While Friday has been called off, organisers say they plan to go ahead with the rest of the weekend at this moment in time.

Further announcements are expected by tomorrow morning.

The Hounsell/William group arrived at the campsite from Weymouth.

Gemma Hounsell told us: "The weather has been pretty horrific. Our awning has flooded. Thankfully, we were with friends who have a caravan so we have spent the day with them in their caravan.

"Obviously [it's] upsetting that tonight’s been cancelled but completely understand that the safety of the customers, performers and workers are put first.

"There has been some serious games of cards played all day - and maybe some day drinking - but you can’t be a British camper/festival-goer and not expect to face some adversity!"

Katie Rosie, from Peterborough, is in Bridport with her son. They're staying with Katie's parents and have been to the festival before.

"We have only been to the festival once before and thoroughly enjoyed it," she said.

"The weather was much better then but this is obviously out of anyone’s control.

"We still hope to go tomorrow and Sunday."
