A new business site in Abbotsbury spent the coronation weekend hosting a creative crown-making workshop which is set to carry on for the rest of the week.

Abbey Farm at Abbotsbury invited children and adults alike to use their imagination and make their own coronation crown, with the opportunity to get their photo taken on a throne afterwards.

Abbey Farm is the home to a number of local businesses including ‘From My Mother's Garden,’ a Dorset clothing label inspired by nature, owned by Penny Callaghan.

The business owner was involved in running the event and said: “We were really pleased with the turnout – considering the weather it was pretty good.

“It got people playing with their imagination and having fun and the aim was to give them a memento of the day.”

Following people’s enjoyment of the event as well as the damp weather discouraging people from venturing out across the bank holiday, the organisers have decided to run the event until Saturday from 11am-3pm.

This was one of the first events that they have run, with plans to host more in the future, including one for world bee day.

Crown making kits cost £2 with any profits being donated to The Prince’s Trust.

The venue used to be the site of the children’s farm and has now been developed into an artistic hub just up from the Swannery and is also home to other independent artisans and businesses including Abbey Farm Flowers, Cherries Café, Clare Hawkes Art Studio, Duir Soaps, and Make & Mend.

Parking for the event is located at Rodden Row Car Park in Abbotsbury.
