A former Olympic silver medalist will host a charity day at Bridport Golf Club later this year.

Gail Emms (MBE) was an international badminton player who competed for Team GB at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, winning a silver medal.

Since then she has appeared on the sports panel show A Question of Sport and has worked as a commentator for the BBC, Sky and BT Sport.

The Golf Reception Charity Golf Day 2023 will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 to raise money for the Acorns Children's Hospice in Birmingham.

A day will feature a competition which includes a goodie bag and a prize table worth over £1,000.

In the evening a gala dinner and dance will be hosted as a ticketed event only.

Gails Emms said: "I am delighted to be able to help and host this special event.

"I am looking forward to seeing the area and playing on what looks like an outstanding golf course.

"The focus on the night is of course for everyone to enjoy themselves and hopefully raise a good amount of money for a wonderful charity."

Andy Dennis, General Manager at Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club said: "My thanks go to all the members that have supported the event and the charity.

"Having Gail involved to host the evening is extra special and I am delighted she can attend."

The night will also feature an auction to raise funds for the charity, including signed shirts from footballers Jack Grealish and Gary Cahill and a signed boxing glove from Anthony Joshua.
