A caravan which was stolen was later recovered by the owner who tracked it to a field.

Police said the caravan was stolen from the area of Fernhill, Charmouth about 6.20pm on Monday, January 30.

The owner tracked it down to a field near Abbotsbury as a vehicle left the scene.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is still ongoing.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 6.42pm on Monday 30 January 2023 of a theft of a caravan from an address in the area of Fernhill in Charmouth.

“It was reported that at around 6.20pm the caravan had been stolen from a field where it was being stored.

“The victim reported that they had subsequently located the caravan in a field in the Abbotsbury area and the vehicle that had been towing the caravan, described as a dark-coloured Mitsubishi SUV, made off from the scene.

“Enquiries into the matter are ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.”

The incident comes after another caravan was stolen from Manor Farm Holiday Centre in Charmouth on Monday, January 1.
