A weather enthusiast has revealed details on which areas of Dorset could see snow overnight.

Dorset Snow said up to 2cm of snow could be seen in some more coastal areas of Dorset between 7pm on Tuesday and 10am on Wednesday.

A map shows which areas could see the most snow in Dorset, with the west of the county due to see between 1cm and 3cm.

More persistent snow, which could be heavy at times, is possible in parts of west Dorset and east Devon including Dorchester, Beaminster, Bridport and Axminster.

Giving his ‘Wintry Watch’ update, Dorset Snow said: “An area of low pressure to the south west of the United Kingdom could bring a spell of mostly light snow to parts of coastal Devon and Dorset overnight.

He said “much uncertainty” remained amongst the weather models.

However, parts of Dorset could face disruption on Wednesday morning.

Dorset Snow added: “The areas shaded in orange will initially see snow flurries kicking in from late evening, before the risk spreads further south east.

“Sleet will initially fall in some coastal areas, before most of the precipitation turns to snow after midnight.

“Some elevated areas in west Dorset could see up to 3cm of snow, bringing a risk of disruption tomorrow morning.

“The area of snowfall is likely to ease during the early hours of the morning with a renewed risk of ice.”

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice which is valid from 6pm today until 10am on Wednesday.

The warning covers the whole of Dorset.
