Nine flats could be created with the redevelopment of a former rope making building off St Michael’s Lane, Bridport.

A planning application to Dorset Council says the scheme would involve the partial demolition and redevelopment of the Lilliput Building and the repair and re-use of the Grade 2 listed former Ropework Building to the rear of 40 St Michael’s Lane.

Part of the development would see space set aside for commercial use.

The planning application, which appeared on the Dorset Council website on Wednesday, is in the name of Mr N Hayward whose address is shown as being care of 66 St Michael’s Lane, the postal address for the application site.

No other details are available on the council website and none of the documentation has currently been published.

The application, which may later be updated, is reference no’ 2022/07118 with public comments open until December 16th.

Site history reveals a similar application being made in February 2017 for the Lilliput Buildings which then included a reduction of 47square metres of light industrial space on the site, together with the creation of nine flats.
