Parts of west Dorset have been issued with a flood alert.
According to the Environment Agency, river levels are forecast to rise at the Charmouth river level gauge as a result of heavy rainfall overnight on Monday.
It says flooding of roads and farmland is possible from 3am today (Tuesday) and that areas likely to be affected are Rivers Lim, Char, Winniford, Simene, Brit, Asker, Mangerton and Bride.
Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point.
The Environment Agency warns that river levels can rise very quickly in response to rainfall and it is closely monitoring the situation.
It advises the public to avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.
