A woman was taken to hospital after a car overturned on a main road.

The single vehicle crash took place on the A35 between Bridport and Dorchester yesterday, at the junction with Longbarrow.

Police officers, firefighters and paramedics all attended the scene with the female driver managing to remove herself from the car.

She was taken to hospital as a precaution though isn't believed to have sustained any serious injuries.

The road was closed for around half an hour.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 8.35am on Monday 14 November 2022 to a report of a single vehicle collision on the A35 at the junction with Longbarrow. Officers attended with fire and ambulance services.

"The female driver was taken to hospital as a precaution, not believed to be any serious injuries. The road reopened at around 9am."

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Bridport and Dorchester Fire Station mobilised to an RTC on the A35 Kingston Russell to a vehicle that had left the road and was now on its roof.

"One casualty self extricated and was left in the care of the ambulance service."
