Organisers of a poignant event which lit up Lyme Regis are now looking to the community to share the profits.

As reported, a huge sum of £18,000 was raised from this year's spectacular Candles on the Cobb event which returned to Lyme Regis at the end of August after four years.

The stunning display saw the harbour wall softly glow from the lights of thousands of tea light candles, in what was thought to be its best-attended event yet.

Each of the 5,300 candles was sponsored in memory of a loved one, each numbered on a map indicating its position on the wall.

Now organisers from the Rotary Club of Lyme Regis are inviting applications from youth organisations in Lyme Regis and environs for a share of the funds collected at the event.

Youth organisations are asked to send a detailed application via email to secretary@lymeregisrotary.org stating the name of the organisation, its aims and purposes, the amount requested and the purpose for which the funds are required. Preference will be given to applications for funds to support capital projects.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday, November 30.

Meanwhile, if you're interested in knowing more about your local Rotary Club, the Lyme group is holding a social evening on Thursday, December 1 to be held at The Hunters Lodge Inn at 6.15pm.

Please advise club secretary John Berry if you would like to come along - email secretary@lymeregisrotary.org
