A FALLEN power line has caused disruption in West Bay this morning.

After a night of high winds that were estimated to reach up to 60mph according to the Met Office, police in Bridport were alerted to a fallen line outside St John's Church at 7:17 am on Tuesday morning.

Officers cordoned off the area and waited for the arrival of the National Grid who immediately isolated the power to carry out the repair.

Police say that this could cause some slight disruption as they will need to reconnect the cable to the opposite side of the road.

A statement from the National Grid said: "We were notified at 07.13 that a low voltage power line had been brought down due to strong winds in West Bay.

"This caused disruption to power supplies for a 102 customers.

"A team of engineers were dispatched and restored supplies by 10am. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this power cut."

It is one of a number of incidents caused by the heavy winds and rain that struck the county over night. The Met Office predicted gusts of up to 60mph as Storm Claudio honed its way across the county.
