Bonfire by the beach will take place this weekend.

The free display will take place at East Beach in West Bay on Saturday, October 29 at 8pm and promises to be a dazzling night for all the family to enjoy.

A Guy competition is also set to take place with judges making their decisions at 6pm in front of the stage and the winner will have the privilege of lighting the bonfire

Live music will begin from 4-9.30pm with performances from Mustang Sally, Nina Garcia, Fat Marrow Band and Mama Feelgood.

An an outside bar and food outlet will also be set up during the evening as well as fairground rides.

A free bus will operate between Bridport and West Bay, departing from the bus depot from 5pm-9.50pm.

Donations are welcome to the event which last year raised thousands for local groups and charities.

Spectators are advised to leave their dogs in the safety of their homes during the event.

The RSPCA recommends playing relaxing music such as Classic FM, to keep your dog calm when fireworks are going off.

They also suggest walking your dog during daylight hours to avoid times when fireworks are likely to be set off and moving your dog to a safe haven each evening before the fireworks begin, providing toys and other things that they enjoy in the safe haven.

Closing windows and curtains is also recommended to muffle out the loud bangs of fireworks.
