Thieves have struck again and stole another catalytic converter in west Dorset.

Just days after we reported a theft in the Lyme Regis area, police have said another vehicle has been targeted - this time in Thorncombe.

Thefts of such items can cause considerable expense and inconvenience for victims as offenders target the precious materials contained in catalytic converters.

A spokesman for Bridport Police said: "At some time overnight between Thursday 20 and Friday 21 October, another catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle in the Thorncombe area.

"This is a national problem due to the price of the precious metals contained inside, however, thieves will always try to exploit a vehicle in an isolated area.

"This crime takes seconds and often done with the use of a grinding tool. Please be vigilant and consider your security and contact us if you would like any advice. Please also report any suspicious activity to us, at the time on 101. Call 999 if you believe a crime is in progress."
