Art lectures for those interested in British painting and art culture will be held in Bridport.

The autumn lectures start on November, 7 from 2pm to 3.30pm and are titled 'Observing the everyday and new approaches to British painting'.

It is a six consecutive week course held at the United Hall on East Street in Bridport, and has a £65 fee.

It will cover 1950s British art, culture and how artists turn to people, observing and making social commentary and celebrate everyday life.

It will be tutored by Pam Simpson MA, art historian, who works at University of the Arts London as an Associate Lecturer. Pam is an experienced tutor, whose career has been spent teaching in London art schools and also in West Dorset where she runs courses and gives lectures for groups.

Artists included: Lucien Freud and his circle notably Frank Auerbach, Joan Eardley, Carel Weight, Anne Redpath, the kitchen sink painters, and photography from Grace Robertson.
