PEOPLE aged 50 and over will be able to book their autumn booster and flu vaccines from tomorrow.

Online and phone bookings will be open to what the NHS estimates to be a group of 12 million people between the age of 50 and 64 for Covid jabs. So far more than seven million people, who are most at risk of Covid or aged 65 and over, have received an autumn booster in just over a month.

NHS director for vaccinations and screening Steve Russell is encouraging people eligible to receive a vaccination.

He said: “More than seven million autumn Covid boosters have been administered so far thanks to the hard work of NHS staff and volunteers, and while this is a brilliant start, our work is not done as more than 12 million people are now being invited to take up the offer and book an appointment as soon as possible.

“Vaccinations are our strongest weapon against these viruses and NHS staff are once again doing all they can to protect the public, including through a new trial that will allow people to book their flu jab through the National Booking Service.

“If you are between 50 and 64 then please do not hesitate to log on and book yourself an appointment, it is the best way to protect yourself from serious illness this winter.”

A new pilot scheme will also allow some people who are eligible for a flu vaccine to book an appointment at more than 200 sites across the country.

While sites are co-administering the flu and Covid vaccines where possible, people may be required to book two separate appointments for the different vaccines.

You can check if you are eligible for both covid and flu vaccinations by visiting the NHS website.
