A Bridport company which runs an annual campaign to help protect pets and keep them calm while fireworks are exploding overhead has won a prestigious award.

Herbal pet care brand Dorwest Herbs was successful at the Ecommerce Awards (Best Multichannel Marketing Campaign) for its 2021 initiative to 'naturally dial down your pet’s firework fear'.

Awards were presented by TV personality Patrick Kielty at a ceremony in London.

The 2021 campaign from Dorwest ran from September to November and conveyed ways to keep pets calm and stress-free during fireworks season. With pet owners up more than 60 per cent since the start of the pandemic, the campaign - although directly promoting key natural calming products - also highlighted different ways owners can prepare pets before and during fireworks season featuring advice from external behaviourist and veterinary experts.

Marketing material targeted both trade and retail customers through digital and traditional methods to improve brand awareness, promote calming products and explain product benefits.

The campaign saw net revenue increase by more than 51 per cent year on year during the September to November period, with brand searches for 'Dorwest Herbs' increasing by more than 100 per cent year on year, as well as overall outstanding customer feedback.

The company was initially based in Bridport but now has a site in Poundbury. Managing director Jo Boughton-White and operations director Ben Boughton-White still live in Bridport.

Jo Boughton-White said: “We’re so incredibly proud to have won this award. The annual calming campaign is fundamental in our marketing calendar in the build up to November to support pets and their owners in easing anxiety for loud noises. We’re delighted to be recognised among household names and to continue to make a difference to pet’s lives.”

Launched in 2007 to recognise excellence in the world of ecommerce, the Ecommerce Awards celebrate the most innovative and market leading initiatives and products in the online retail space. Taking place annually, they bring together some of the best industry minds, with the shortlisted category including brands such as Adobe, Denby Pottery, Doves Farm and Evri.

Ecommerce Awards judges noted the fantastic content themes running across all channels, stating the Dorwest campaign was “a truly multichannel targeted campaign to raise awareness, drive sales and engagement for a worthy product.”

As winner of last year’s National Pet Industry Federation Awards 'Supplier Of The Year'; the brand continues to grow with recognised public acknowledgement for their impact within the pet industry.

This year’s calming campaign from DorWest launched on September 26.
