Essential maintenance work has been completed at a railway station in Dorset.
The platform at Yetminster station on the Weymouth to Bristol line was subject to a recent overhaul after the previous surface was identified to be a risk to pushchairs and disabled rail users.
West Dorset MP Chris Loder visited the much-improved platform during a summit with Network Rail and operator Great Western Railway, and was shown the improvements at the station.
Mr Loder said: “I have always taken the accessibility of west Dorset’s railway stations incredibly seriously, and I am leaving no stone unturned when it comes to making sure every station is as user-friendly as possible, which is why I am pleased that Great Western Railway has taken my concerns on board and acting on them.”
The track renewals Network Rail have undertaken throughout the recent period of line closure are expected to boost the efficiency of train services, as well as improve journey times moving forward.
