RESIDENTS are being urged to be vigilant over the latest text scam.
According to Dorset Council, a series of scam texts are being sent to Dorset residents about the Energy Bill Support Scheme.
The scam texts tell people they are eligible for a discount and asks for registration and further details.
The Energy Bills Support Scheme provides a £400 non-repayable discount to eligible households to help with their energy bills over winter 2022 to 2023.
Dorset Council says the £400 discount is paid automatically and does not require registration.
Therefore, if you get a message asking for your bank details, it is likely to be a scam.
If you have any concerns about how it will be paid or doubts around any messages you receive, you should speak to your energy provider.
