A man has appeared in court to deny a charge of causing the death of a motorcyclist in west Dorset by careless or inconsiderate driving.

Christopher Banke, 71, appeared before Weymouth Magistrates Court yesterday.

It relates to an incident on October 10, 2021, in which Adrian Saunders, aged in his 50s and from Exeter, died following a crash on the A3066 Tunnel Road near Beaminster.

Banke, of Merriott, near Crewkerne, Somerset, is accused of causing the death of Mr Saunders by driving a Landrover Freelander without due care and attention.

The case was adjourned and sent to the Crown Court and Banke will appear before Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday, October 27 2022.
