Passengers are reminded the Bristol rail route is closed between Weymouth and Yeovil Pen Mill from today for a week.
Network Rail is undertaking essential maintenance at Dorchester West as well as a number of stations in Somerset.
Buses will take people from Weymouth and Dorchester West to Yeovil where they can pick up a train to take them into Westbury, Bath and Bristol Temple Meads.
South Western Railway trains from Weymouth to Upwey, Dorchester South and beyond are unaffected.
Ben Scott, GWR’s station manager for Westbury, Wiltshire and Dorset, said: “This upgrade work will help to reduce the risk of any issues developing with the track or vital structures that might affect our services on the Heart of Wessex line.”
The work is set to go on until Friday, September 30.
