A talk about Saving Butterflies and the Amazon will be held at the Dorchester Corn Exchange on Tuesday, September 27 at 7 pm.
The introduction will be by nature writer Brian Jackman, and feature talks by Sir Ghillean Prance - former director of the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew - on the Amazon and its people, with another by Professor Philip Howse - entomologist and author - on the Rev Miles Moss, a little known butterfly collector and polymath who had the whole of the Amazon basin as his 'parish' in the early 1900s, and on incredible examples of insect mimics from tropical rain forests.
There will also be a film of tropic butterflies introduced by Clive Farrell, a short recital of Brazilian guitar music by Anthony Dodds and Colin Thompson followed by an audience discussion.
