A man was arrested and drugs seized by police following raids in Bridport and Lyme Regis this week.

Officers carried out two warrants on Wednesday as part of the force’s crackdown aimed at targeting drugs gangs operating in the county.

At about 9am, officers raided an address in South Street, Bridport, and in the Queens Walk area of Lyme Regis.

The warrants form part of the force’s Operation Viper initiative – which aims to proactively target and disrupt the activities of those believed to be drug dealing in the community.

During searches of both addresses, officers seized suspected class A drugs, as well as suspected stolen property.

A 28-year-old man from Lyme Regis was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug and was issued with a conditional caution.

Police Sergeant Mike Brown, of West Dorset Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “These warrants were carried out following information from the public in relation to reported drug-related activity.

“The action involved joint working by multiple teams across the Force, including the local neighbourhood policing team, the Neighbourhood Enforcement Team (NET) and officers from the Force Support Group (FSG).

“We are committed to tackling issues in the local area that we know cause concern for residents and will continue to relentlessly target those believed to be supplying drugs in our county.”

It comes as Dorset Police reveals it made 12 arrests last month for drug related offences.
