An independent record shop in Dorchester is hosting a special live music performance to celebrate the launch of a local band's new album.

The Chesterfields, who came to prominence in 1986, have released 'New Modern Homes' featuring 12 new songs some 28 years after their last album.

The indie band has embarked on multiple UK and European tours and released several records that have made in into the top 10 in independent UK music charts.

They'll play songs from their latest album at Vinyl Van, in Brewery Square, from 7pm on Friday, September 23.

Mark Smith, Owner of Vinyl Van, said: “When Simon (Barber – on bass and vocals) asked about the band launching their new album in the shop, we were delighted to oblige. I’ve known Simon for a long time, and he helped us out by designing our Vinyl Van Logo when we started out. This is the perfect opportunity for us to return the favour and bring another evening of fantastic live music to Dorchester.”

The Chesterfields will also play at the Lyric Theatre, Bridport, on September 24.
