Visitors can learn about the restoration of a former Methodist chapel building that now houses the award-winning West Bay Discovery Centre.

For one day only, on Sunday, September 11, the centre will allow visitors to discover how the transformational work was carried out.

The event forms part of Dorset Architectural Heritage Week (September 9 to September 18) - an annual event that aims to engage public awareness of Dorset's architectural and cultural heritage.

The former West Bay Methodist Chapel is a Grade II listed building that dates from 1849 and ceased as a place of worship in 2006.

Bridport Area Development Trust secured funding in 2017 to restore and adapt the building.

Visitors on Sunday will be able to access the small mezzanine level, not usually open to the public, for high-level views of West Bay.

The centre will also be showing a short slide presentation that reveals how the restoration was undertaken.

All of the centre’s usual exhibitions and displays will be available too.

The event runs from 11am until 4pm with free admission.
