GOOD causes will be hailing the ale as they are set to benefit from the sale of beer at a major event.

Dorset brewers Hall & Woodhouse will be running the main bar at this year’s Dorset County Show – as well as promoting ales from its 'Badger van' - and has pledged to donate all profits made at the event to charity.

This will be the firm's first time at the historic show, which returns this weekend to the Dorchester showground at Cokers Frome after a two year break due to the pandemic.

More than 60,000 visitors are anticipated at the showcase which includes a full programme of events and attractions across the two days, Saturday and Sunday September 3 and 4, including the main ring events, around 6,000 exhibits and trade stands which include Shopping at The Avenue, and local artisan food and drink.

Hall & Woodhouse says all profits from beer sales made will be split between Dorset County Show’s chosen charities, The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution and The Farmer’s Crisis Network (FCN) Dorset.

The brewer will serve a range of its Badger beers, wines, and spirits over the weekend. The Badger Beer Volkswagen will also make an appearance to provide attendees with free samples of Badger, as well as selling some bottled Badger and branded merchandise.

Additionally, free Badger beer and cheese tasting sessions will also be hosted by Hall & Woodhouse’s Family Director, Mark Woodhouse. These sessions will run at 1pm on Saturday 3 and noon on Sunday.

Anthony Woodhouse, Chairman of Hall & Woodhouse, said: “This event celebrates the best of local agriculture, farmers, and producers. As a Dorset business and brewers of our beautiful Badger beer, it is so important that we partner with the show organisers in this way, to help us give back to those who really need it in our community.

“We are excited to be part of this year’s Dorset County Show and spend time with the visitors who are just as passionate as us about supporting our farming community and local producers.”

Nicki Ralph, chair of Dorchester Agricultural Society, added: “We’re delighted the Dorset County Show is back this year with the return of all the major attractions the show is known and loved for, such as cattle and livestock, sheep shearing, vintage tractors, show jumping, shopping, and plenty of good food and drink. Additionally, attractions such as the live music in the Countryside Area, the fun fair, local artisans’ tent, as well as the Fabulous Food and Farming learning zone, make ideal family entertainment.

“We are so thrilled to receive Hall & Woodhouse’s dedication to the show and support for our chosen charities, while sharing its iconic Badger beers with our visitors.”
