CYCLISTS (and their bikes) are being encouraged to help create a giant spinning wheel to commemorate the Tour of Britain passing through a town.
Organisers at Dorchester are hoping to take the crown in the Tour's National Land Art competition by creating a huge bike wheel that will be seen by helicopters and film crew.
To make the wheel they need loads of bikes and plenty of willing volunteers ready to grab hold of a material spoke in order to "spin the wheel".
The tour passes through Dorchester on Saturday, September 10 with the land art at Kings Road park.
Organisers of the land art feat are asking volunteers to arrive at 11am.
The winning entry will be decided after the race by a panel comprising race director Mick Bennett, members of the ITV4 broadcast team and staff from race organisers SweetSpot. The winners will be presented with a trophy; two runners-up will also be announced.
Previous winners include farmers in South Molton, Devon and Egerton Park and Walmsley Primary School, Greater Manchester, while the 2021 competition was won by Dr Jenna Ross of Craskins Farm in Aberdeenshire.
