A TASTER session has given people in Beaminster an idea of what they can learn at free cookery workshops in April.
The event at the Public Hall on Saturday was run by Tony Gibbons, of Drimpton, who is teaching the Friendly Food Club workshops starting on April 9.
These are aimed at those with few or no cooking skills and those who want to get more confidence to make fresh, healthy food.
All the ingredients are supplied and the classes will be followed by another series on communication and presentation skills, including food safety training.
The workshops are the brainchild of Mr Gibbons, who received a national community champion award in 2006 for his work developing cookery skills courses.
Visitors to the taster buffet were treated to demonstrations of how to make dishes including Thai green curry, spring rolls and samosas.
Mr Gibbons, who has received Learning and Skills Council funding for the courses, said the taster event went well and people are signing up for the workshops at a good rate.
*The Friendly Food Club classes run on Wednesdays, starting April 9, with two times to choose from - one from 10am to 1pm and an evening session from 6pm to 9pm.
