A mum has thanked members of the public and emergency services who rushed to the aid of her family after a terrifying crash.

Georgie Marshall, her partner and three children were travelling back from a family wedding when the car they were in was involved in a collision with another vehicle on the A3066 Bridport to Beaminster road.

Georgie said: “I just remember the loud bang. Straight away I grabbed my youngest and my partner got the other two children out the car.

“There was so much traffic on the road almost immediately after and people rushed to help us and the other car. I don’t know if the people who helped us that night were local or not but I would really like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to them – to everyone who stopped, I am so grateful. It was so kind and it made such a difference as we were all so shook up.”

She added: “The fire service were absolutely amazing. They arrived in minutes and were making sure everyone was ok. I am very, very thankful to the emergency services.”

Emergency services were called to Crooked Oak Hill, Melplash, at around 10pm on Monday night.

The road was closed while they attended, with a spokesman from Bridport Fire Station warning at the time the road would be closed for 'some time.'

The vehicles were recovered and the road reopened at around 1am Tuesday morning.
