A car was left abandoned in the road in a west Dorset village, causing a major headache for people passing through.

One witness said the car, left on Market Street in Abbotsbury, caused 'mayhem' for other drivers trying to navigate their way through the narrow, bendy road.

Police were called and the car was later towed.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "We were called at around 7.50am on Monday, 15 August, to a report of an abandoned vehicle in Market Street in Abbotsbury.

"Officers attended and are carrying out enquiries to establish how the vehicle ended up in the location. The vehicle has been recovered."
