A MAN has been sentenced after being found guilty of assaulting a woman by beating her.
Allan William Rogers, whose address was given as Penny Close of Wellington, in Somerset, appeared in Weymouth Magistrates' Court for sentencing on Friday, August 5.
The 52-year-old was found guilty of one count of assault by beating following a trial at the court on May 3 after pleading not guilty to the offence on February 16 this year.
The charge relates to an incident which took place in Bridport on October 8 last year in which Rogers assaulted a woman by beating her.
Rogers was given a 12-month community order and must undertake 100 hours of unpaid work.
He must also pay £125 in compensation as well as a £95 victim surcharge and £650 towards court costs.
