A NATIONAL road surfacing and infrastructure business has been announced as an official sponsor for when the Tour of Britain visits Dorset.

Stage Seven of the world class cycling race starts in West Bay on Saturday, September 10 and passes through Dorchester, West Lulworth and Corfe Castle before the route ends in Ferndown.

Hanson Contracting, a strategic partner of Dorset Highways, has been announced as one of the official sponsors for the stage.

The business “pride themselves on finding innovative road surfacing to meet net zero carbon ambitions”.

Ian Price, managing director of Hanson Contracting, said the sponsorship would “provide a unique opportunity to demonstrate the integrity of the county’s roads.”

Councillor Ray Bryan, Dorset Council’s Portfolio Holder for Highways, Travel and Environment, said: “We’re delighted that Dorset has the support of our private sector partner Hanson Contracting as an official sponsor for stage seven of the event.

“We look forward to showcasing Dorset’s beautiful countryside and spectacular coastline and to cheering on all the competitors in September.”
