A LORRY driver had a lucky escape when he realised his brakes were on fire right outside a fire station.
Bridport Fire Station were tasked with extinguishing the large vehicle fire as the driver stopped right outside the station after noticing smoke coming from his breaks.
The brakes were cooled down using a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera.
A spokesperson for Bridport Fire Station said: “Both pumps mobilised to an articulated lorry with its brakes on fire. We didn’t have to go far for this one as the driver stopped outside our station after noticing smoke coming from his brakes.
“Crews used one hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to cool the brakes before allowing the driver to move his vehicle off the road and into the station yard where he will be met by a mechanic.”
