A man has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault in Bridport.

Officers investigating are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

The incident, in which it was alleged that a man had assaulted an off-duty member of staff at The Pursuit of Hoppiness, West Street, was reported to police at around 8.45pm on Sunday, 3 July.

The victim sustained a cut above his left eye.

Officers attended and a 52-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of assault. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Mike Rumsby, of Dorset Police, said: “We believe that the bar was fairly busy at the time and there may be further witnesses to the incident who have not yet spoken with police.

“I would urge them to please come forward to help our investigation.”
