The Melplash Show is the annual event that locals and visitors to Bridport and West Dorset most look forward to. Taking place at the West Bay Showground it is a traditional one-day agricultural show that brings together the best of farming and rural life. For farmers and those that work on the land it is a chance to show others what they do and a time to enjoy meeting up with their peers and associates; for those that are not so familiar with farming it is an opportunity to get to know more about what is involved while having a fun-filled day out with the family.

With farming still very much at its heart, visitors have the rare opportunity to see close-up the finest farm animals in the area as they compete for the top prizes.  For horse lovers there is always an outstanding selection of horses and ponies on show, including heavy horses and show jumping.

For the younger generation there is masses of fun to be had. To help them connect with food and farming, the dedicated Discover Farming Marquee will be packed with hands-on farm to plate activities along with the latest technology in farming and the chance to find out about the exciting careers that are available within agriculture today.

A visit to the horticultural, floral arts, home produce and handicraft competition tents is always a highlight of the day and a chance to marvel at not just the size of the vegetables and beautiful floral displays but also the exceptional talents there are in the area.

There is also a fun packed countryside arena offering everything from ferret racing, gun dog and falconry displays, you can even enter your own dog in the terrier races!
