SPORTS clubs, youth groups or community groups working with vulnerable people are invited to bid for grants from the county's police and crime commissioner.

There are just a few days left to apply for funding to help tackle anti-social behaviour in Dorset through the Op Relentless Community Fund.

Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner David Sidwick said: “The Op Relentless fund is aimed at bringing forward practical solutions to Dorset’s problems, so if you are a charity or local project and you fit the bidding criteria I would encourage you to get your bid in before the deadline.

"Whether you are a sports club, youth group or a community group working with vulnerable people, together we can banish anti-social behaviour and make our county safer for everyone.”

Grants are being made available to organisations for projects and initiatives that reduce anti-social behaviour and/or increase public feeling of safety in areas disproportionately affected by ASB. Applications from £100 up to £5,000 are welcomed, the projects must address anti-social behaviour and have a local focus.

A spokesman for past fund beneficiaries The Front, Weymouth, said: “We have made sure that we keep young riders coming here who we know are struggling with peer pressure, especially with low-level ASB that they find hard to get out of being involved in. Coming to the skate park regularly has helped them to pull away from this type of behaviour and become part of a supportive community.”

Applications close on July 11 2022.
