There was cause for celebration when Mayor of Bridport Ian Bark and consort Anne Bark visited McCarthy Stone’s Gordon Court development to officially open a new show suite.

They joined the team, guests and those who have already reserved apartments to perform a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the site on Flood Lane.

Guests enjoyed refreshments, cake and fizz as they were entertained with live music from Scarlet Swing as part of the Jubilee celebrations.

Cllr Bark said: “I was thrilled to be invited to the opening of the show suite at Gordon Court and join in the Jubilee celebrations. It was great to see the outstanding development which will help enhance the number of choices available for older people in Bridport and beyond.”

Prices at Gordon Court start from £250,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and from £350,000 for a two-bedroom flat. Rental and part-buy part-rent options are available.

Verity McKay, divisional marketing manager at McCarthy Stone, said: “We are all incredibly proud of the development and we were delighted to be able to unveil the exciting show suite to councillor Ian Bark and consort Anne Bark – the feedback so far has been great.”

She added: “We are seeing an increase in retirees deciding to take the plunge and downsize their home.”

When complete, Gordon Court will comprise of a host of one and two-bedroom apartments for the over 60s, with the first occupants expected this month.
