A MAN who drove drunk on the road where he lives has been banned from getting behind the wheel for 20 months.

Stephen Paul Cromack, aged 63, of Main Street in Chideock was drunk while behind the wheel of a blue Peugeot Partner van on June 2.

On Friday June 24 at Weymouth Magistrates Court, Cromack admitted driving in Main Street, Chideock when his breath had a level of 76 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.

The defendant's guilty plea was taken into account when imposing sentence.

He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 20 months.

Cromack was fined £150 and told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34. He must also pay cost courts of £85 - totalling £269.
