RAISE a glass - and a knife and fork - for the return of Bridport Food & Beer Festival.

Events have been taking place this week to showcase all things food and drink but the main event is at Asker Meadows today and tomorrow.

The celebrations kick off with the Bridport Round Table Beer Festival this evening (Friday), 6pm-11pm, in an adult-only event featuring 80 beers and 40 ciders for visitors to enjoy, alongside a Pimm's Bar and a selection of street food.

The next day (9.30am-5pm) will see a family-friendly event with as great selection of food and drink to suit all tastes, mainly from producers and suppliers within a 25-mile radius of Bridport.

With the overall theme being 'Reducing Food Waste' there will be demonstrations and talks from special guests on how to save food from the bin - as well as saving money.

Live music will take place on both days from Stillyano, Howl Open Mic, Shelbys Elbow and Hang 11.

The festivities come as part of the Bridport Food Festival Fortnight (June 12-24).

Other events on offer include cookery demonstrations by local chefs including, Mark Hix, Gill Meller, Pam 'Pam the Jam' Corbin, as well as cocktail making with Dark Bear and a festival tearoom offering a cup of Dorset Tea with homemade cakes and scones, accompanied by live music from local musicians.

In the Love Food Hate Waste tent visitors can attend a selection of demonstrations and talks from special guests including, eco-nutritionist Daphne Lambert.

In an attempt to eliminate the use of plastic on-site, visitors are urged to bring their own drinking vessels, however there will be a small number of glasses available to buy on the day.

Raffle tickets will be on sale throughout the day with prizes donated by local businesses, it will be drawn at 4pm with all proceeds going back into running the Bridport Local Food Group.

A children and teen’s marquee will offer a stimulating day of food-based activities with the opportunity for children to make the dishes, drink and decorations for their own special ‘All Taste No Waste Tea Party.’

Admission is free on the Friday, after 4pm on Saturday and for anyone aged 17 and under.
