BRIDPORT Community Hospital has passed its latest hygiene rating with flying colours.

The hosptial has been given a rating of 'five' or 'very good' for the way it handles food and its cleanliness conditions in its latest hygiene rating.

The hosptial, in Hospital Lane, was given an overall five-star rating following an inspection from the Food Standards Agency on May 11.

The scoring system goes from 0 to 5, with zero meaning 'urgent improvement is necessary' while five means ‘very good’.

For its hygiene handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage the hospital was given a rating of 'very good'.

For cleanliness and condition of facilities and building (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control) to enable good food hygiene, the hospital's approach was also 'very good'.

The hospital also scored a 'very good' for its management of food safety, which included system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety.
