The granddaughter of Soviet double agent Kim Philby will be speaking at west Dorset’s new crime and thriller festival.

Charlotte Philby will be discussing her grandfather’s relationship with Edith Tudor-Hart, the woman who introduced him to his Soviet handler.

You can hear her talk at Lyme Crime on Saturday, June 25 at 4.30pm.

Drawing on the secret intelligence files on Edith Tudor-Hart, along with the private archive letters of Kim Philby, Charlotte’s novel Edith and Kim tells the story of the woman behind the 'Third Man'. She will be joined by Sunday Times bestseller Erin Kelly, and author Winnie M. Li, in a conversation that looks at reputations and their power to define and destroy.

Festival director Paddy Magrane said: "It will be utterly fascinating hearing Charlotte speak about the man she knew as her grandfather – a man she visited on holiday in Moscow who nonetheless changed the course of the Cold War – and the woman Anthony Blunt referred to as ‘the grandmother of the Cambridge spies’."
