Wow, what a party that was!

A big street party in the centre of Beaminster was among the local celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Tables were laid out in the Square around the Robinson Memorial for the huge event hosted by the town council. Part of the A3066 Hogshill Street through the centre was closed to allow the event to take place on Sunday.

Jubilee bunting had gone up a few days before along with red, white and blue hanging baskets and jubilee flags.

Events had started in the town on Thursday when the cricket club hosted a family barbecue at the Memorial Playing Field which was followed by the Beacon Lighting Ceremony.

The church also hosted a lunchtime concert with the organist from the Chapel Royal Hampton Court plus a service of thanksgiving.

Parnham hosted a (ticketed) event on the Saturday before the big street party on Sunday between noon and 5pm where Jubilee-themed outfits were encouraged

There was live music, food and drink stalls, a bar, the best jubilee hat/crown competition, and a Prince and Princess Parade for the children.
