POWERSTOCK School began the jubilee celebrations early with a tea party on the last day of half term.

The children had sent hand-painted invitations to the whole village to come and join them for some delicious cakes and a cream tea, laid out on hand-painted vintage-style table cloths with vases of flowers.

The reception class had made flags for visitors to wave as they admired the youngest children’s crown parade whilst the others curtsied as they walked by in a regal way. As part of a mini concert, the villagers enjoyed learning about the Queen’s Green Canopy project as they were each given a plant grown from seed to recognise the cause.

Union Flags were then raised as the event ended with rousing verse of the National Anthem.
