Four crews of firefighters raced to a property in Marshwood where a wooden workshop was ablaze.
The B3165 was closed for a time while the incident was dealt with yesterday. The cause was believed to be accidental.
Crews were alerted at 1.30pm yesterday and found smoke and flames issuing from the storage building.

A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "One pump and the water carrier from Bridport along with a pump from Lyme Regis Fire Station and a pump from Axminster Fire Station were all mobilised to a property fire in Marshwood.
"On arrival crews found a developed fire in the roof of a timber framed workshop. Crews used hose reel jets, main lines, six breathing apparatus wearers, a thermal imaging camera, gas detector monitors, small tools, a ladder and one positive pressure ventilation (PPV) fan to extinguish the fire.
"The B3165 road was closed for a short period whilst crews dealt with the fire and we like to pass on our thanks to the public's patience during this time.
"We would also like to thank the local residents for the much needed cups of tea."
A spokesman for Axminster Fire Station said: Shortly after 1.30pm fire control room took a call from a member of the public stating a barn type out-building had smoke issuing from the roof in Marshwood.
"They immediately mobilised Axminster along with Lyme Regis Fire Station, Bridport Fire Station a water carrier also from Bridport and a supporting officer.
"Once on scene crews confirmed smoke and flames issuing from the roof of the building and got to work using 2 hose reel jets to prevent the fire escalating.
"Once Lyme Regis had booked in attendance the officer in charge committed two breathing apparatus to fight the fire internally using one hose reel jet.
"Crews also utilised the water from Bridport to keep a steady flow of water.
"Crews successfully extinguished the fire which was within a single storey outbuilding used as storage, using a total of 6 breathing apparatus wearers, 2 hose reel jets, 1 45mm safety jet, a triple extension ladder, small tools, lighting, positive pressure ventilation fan, a thermal imaging camera, a light portable pump and gas monitoring equipment.
"The fire was believe to had started accidentally."
