Bunting at the ready - celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee begin today!

Events are being held across four days as people come together to share this once-in-a-lifetime occasion.

National celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend include a star-studded pop concert, a carnival pageant and the lighting of thousands of beacons across the world.

THURSDAY, JUNE 2

Symondsbury Estate Garden Party, 11am-4pm, Bring the whole family to Symondsbury Estate and enjoy some good old-fashioned British fun

Music in Bucky Doo Square, Bridport - Skalatans Live at 11am, followed by at 2pm, proclamation by Mayor and Town Crier

Burton Bradstock Grand Jubilee Village Fayre, Rectory Garden, 2pm -4pm, Entry £1, under 12s free.

Torch light procession leading to the lighting of a beacon in Cooper's Field, Hospital Lane, North Allington, Bridport. People will be able to enjoy a hog roast, live music, and Jubilee bonfire from 7pm. At approximately 9.20pm there will be a torch light procession to the beacon on top of the hill.

FRIDAY, JUNE 3

Civic service, 11am, St Mary's Church, South Street, Bridport Jazz Jurassica, Lyme Regis Peasants' Picnic, From 12.30pm - , Coneygar Hill, Millennium Green Beach Celebration From 5pm - with music at Hive Beach, Burton Bradstock Stomp and Circumstance, 8pm - 1am - Jubilee Rave at Bridport Youth and Community Centre

SATURDAY, JUNE 4

St Mary’s Church Tower in Bridport open for visitors from 10am to 1pm. Visitors are invited to see and try out the Ellacombe ringing apparatus, that allowed the bells to keep ringing all through lockdown.

Al Fresco BBQ, Bridport Arts Club Restaurant, Bridport Arts Centre, 12pm - 4pm

Pirates Day in West Bay,12pm onwards - fun for all the family, live music on the mount from 1pm to 11pm, outside bar and BBQ on The Mound, fireworks at 10pm

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Tea Party, Gore Cross Recreation Area, Bridport - 2pm - 5pm, light refreshments available – children’ activities – music – tree dedication, bring your own picnic, chairs, blankets etc.

Jubilee Cake Giveaway, Bull Hotel, Bridport - 3pm - A toast and a big cheer to the queen at 3pm Jazz Jurassica, Lyme Regis

SUNDAY, JUNE 5

Platinum Picnic in the Park, Bridport Millennium Green, 2pm to 4.30pm. Music from local bands Rough Assembly and The Boogie Men. Free, although donations would be gratefully received and there will be cakes on sale.

Jubilee Jamboree - Rectory Gardens, Burton Bradstock, 12.30pm to 5.30pm, Official opening – toast to The Queen – National Anthem, Bring your own picnic lunch and dress in 1950s style.

Jubilee Picnic in Langmoor Gardens, Lyme Regis - Music from B Sharp, Lyme Regis Town Band, as well as dancing from Lyme Morris.

BBC Big Band, Lyme Regis beach, 8pm, followed by fireworks display over the Cobb at 10pm Jazz Jurassica, Lyme Regis
